PENSIONS BLUNDER: TREASURY TOOK ON TOO MUCH TOO SOON - WEBB12.08.02pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 20th May 2003
Steve Webb MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Work & Pensions Secretary, commenting on the Paymaster General's statement "National Insurance Contrbutions Deficiency Notices", said: "Clearly the NIRS2 computer is the root of this problem. This shambolic system was the result of successive governments' incompetence." "The empire building of Gordon Brown has resulted in the Treasury taking on too much too soon. "This statement shows that the Government's priority is buck-passing, not establishing how families lost out and how to rectify the problems."
