Post Strike Should Not Stop Britain Working

1.21.47pm GMT Wed 29th Oct 2003

Commenting on the industrial action affecting the Royal Mail Malcolm Bruce MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow DTI Secretary, said: "Strike action like this costs Britain business money, and inconveniences millions of ordinary people. The postal delivery service is part of the critical infrastructure that keeps Britain working."

"Whatever the legitimate grievances of Royal Mail workers and the resistance of management to their demands, compulsory arbitration in an essential public service is much more preferable than strike action."
