Date Must Be Set For Penrose Report

12.10.56pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 5th Mar 2004

Norman Lamb MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Treasury Minister and Member of the Treasury Select Committee, has tabled a question to the Chancellor asking him when the Penrose report on Equitable Life will be published. No firm date for its publication has yet been given, amid much speculation.

Commenting, Mr Lamb said: "The uncertainty over when the Treasury is going to publish the Penrose report must end."

"It is not acceptable for the Treasury to keep everyone who is anxious to see the report waiting for so long. The report must be brought into the public domain as soon as possible, and with advance warning of the date."
