Brown Complacent On Economy Says Cable11.49.33am GMT Fri 26th Mar 2004 Vincent Cable MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor, commenting on new GDP figures out this morning, said: "Imbalances in our economy are fuelled by an unsustainable house price bubble. The Bank of England remains stuck between dealing with the weaknesses in the economy or the consumer boom. "In the Budget the Chancellor failed to take responsibility for the economy. With exports falling and investment sluggish there is no room for complacency." Ends Notes 1. Exports fell 0.1% in 2003 compared to 2002 on the chained volume measure.
