DTI Re-Branding A Comic Example Of Spin Over Substance

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 13th May 2005

Malcolm Bruce MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow DTI Secretary, responding to the reversion of the Department of Trade and Industry to its name after its short-lived re-branding as the Department for Productivity, Energy and Industry, said:

"This is an almost comic example of spin Government. Fortunately Alan Johnson is a sensible Minister who can see the difference between spin and substance.

"This waste of time and money shows the Government know they have a white elephant on their hands and no idea what to do with it."
