Responding to reports that a £100m fraud trial collapsed due to incompetence within Customs and Excise, Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary, Norman Lamb MP said: "It is scandalous that yet another trial involving Customs and Excise has collapsed.

"With the judge finding that there had been a failure to disclose crucial documents to the defence and also using tainted witnesses, it's time there was a proper inquiry into Customs and Excise performance on prosecutions."
