Commenting on the failure of the Government to meet its target of 35% of Senior Civil Service positions filled by women, Liberal Democrat Shadow Women's Minister Sandra Gidley MP said:n"How on earth can the Government be expected to meet its new target when the number of women graduates applying to join the Civil Service Fast Track scheme is at its lowest level for seven years?

"It comes as a disappointment to see such a big reduction in the number of women applying. Further analysis ought to be conducted by the Government to ensure that we see more women applying to join the Fast Track scheme."
