Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary, Edward Davey MP

Commenting on reports that winter wholesale gas prices have fallen by a quarter and electricity prices by 30 per cent in the past four months, Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary, Edward Davey MP said: "People will expect their gas and electricity bills to fall as quickly as they were increased by these companies.

"If this doesn't happen OFGEM must ask searching questions to ensure competition is as tough as it needs to be to guarantee consumers are not cheated.

"Households fearing higher bills this winter will be eager to know how quickly this fall in wholesale prices will be passed on."
