Stamp Duty Policy Ignores First Time Buyers - Cable6.02.36pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 18th Oct 2006
The Liberal Democrats have attacked Conservative proposals to abolish Stamp Duty on shares. Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor, Vince Cable MP, said: "These reports show the truth about David Cameron's Conservatives. The ugly head of true blue Toryism has reared itself once again. "Only the Conservatives would decide to help their friends in the City instead of helping hard working first time buyers by cutting stamp duty on property. "Cutting Stamp Duty would mean cuts in public services for those who need them most."
