WHSmith announcement must not lead to further post office closures - Kramer

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 19th Apr 2007

Commenting on the announcement that WH Smith is to open post offices in 70 of its high street shops, Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary, Susan Kramer MP said: "Outreach postal services can be a real benefit to both the host business and the community as a whole.

"However, we need to keep a close eye on what happens next. It is vital that this experiment is not used as an excuse to close more full post offices, particularly in deprived or isolated areas."
