10.16.45am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 26th Jun 2007

Commenting on today's [Tuesday] Public Accounts Committee report on the value for money of OGCbuying.solutions, Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor, Vince Cable MP said: "The Gershon savings of £20bn a year which the Government says it will achieve through greater efficiency are dependent in substantial part on more efficient procurement.

"However, this report underlines the fact that institutional jealousies and Whitehall empire building are still major obstacles. Some ministers simply haven't come to terms with the challenges involved."
