Royal Mail Must Consult Businesses On Proposed Changes11.50.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 27th Apr 2004
Royal Mail has approached Postcomm for permission to price their mail services on size rather than weight. Commenting on the proposed changes, Malcolm Bruce MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow DTI Secretary, said: "Royal Mail should be allowed to review its operations, if the end result is increased efficiency, fairness and a modernised service." "The proposals will clearly have significantly disadvantages for certain sectors who rely on the postal services to get their products to customers cheaply." "Royal Mail must therefore consult to ensure that particular types of business are not faced with excessive price increases."
